As I have been touting for some time, its all about sample size.As the SKS registry has grown to 2230 responses, there have been a whopping 376 letter series entries, of which a small percentage are dated 1955 on the receiver cover. Now, it could be argued that a few older 1955 stamped receiver covers were pulled from the receiver cover bin in 1956, but it could very well be that a few got stamped while most did not in 1955.
There is a slight blip down in 1951, but that could be due to sample size (2230 responses), or simply 1951 is a rarer year. Im not saying they dont exist, just that this is first Ive heard of them. Whoever submitted them, please show us some pics Would be a significant discovery for letter gun collectors. I actually know the guy who owns a T (goes by svt40 from CGN) and hes posting the photos on CGN shortly. Dont be too surprized Drago, I can name about a dozen other unusual SKSs. Or enough examples of some new discovery to be able to show a pattern. Im not knocking your list, but it does assume everyone will be honest or 100 accurate in the data they put forth. I could easily skew your data by falsely representing or even wrongly interpreting the symbols on the guns I input. You dont require photo proof of the users data, so there is a chance that the data you are gathering is false to some degree. Im not suggesting any of the current is inaccurate, just that it is possible. There may be evidence that these are simply importer additions, and not actual letter series.
